MPM Trust to organise free medical camps
Visakhapatnam: The MPM Trust and NTR Seva Samithi Trust will organise 100 free medical camps in Visakhapatnam city covering all wards to reach the public who are unable to reach the hospitals, said GITAM President, MLC and MPM Trust Chairman Dr MVVS Murthi here on Tuesday. As part of free mega medical camps, he inaugurated the first camp at 19th ward community centre located at Bhanoji Nagar in the city.
Addressing a gathering, he said that around 20 medical teams from GITAM Dental College and Hospital, GIMSR Hospital engaged with the medical camps and the trust decided to distribute free medicines and spectacles.
He observed that most of the people in Smart city are unable to pay the transport charges to reach the government hospitals. After observing the health standards of senior citizens and women in various wards, the trust members in recent annual meeting decided to organise free medical camps at an estimated budget of Rs 1 crore, Murthi said.
The trust decided to conduct three medical camps in a week covering all wards and finally prepare a data base on health conditions of people. He said that medical camps would raise the awareness level among people of their health condition.
GIMSR Hospital superintendent Dr Syama Prasad informed that the hospital is implementing various schemes for women and senior citizens which are evoking a huge response. The hospital is offering free medical aid to white card holders. The GIMSR Hospital is equipped with modern medical technologies and ICU facilities to conduct operations without any charge.
