Farm workers hurt as auto overturns
Vijayawada: In all,13 farm workers were injured when a speeding auto-rikshaw in which they were travelling overturned near Gowravaram village in Penuganchiprolu mandal in Krishna district on Sunday. The farm workers were going to attend work in chilli farms when the speeding auto-rikshaw lost control as one of its tyres suddenly burst.
As a result, the passengers sustained injuries. Seven of them were shifted to Andhra Hospital at Gollapudi and two of them were in critical condition due to serious injuries. District Collector B Lakshmikantham visited the hospital and consoled the victims. Shaik Lalbi, Sk Masumbi, Jummabi, Nalakarthi Lakshmi, Sk Badeb, Jimal Bi and another woman were undergoing treatment at Andhra Hospital.
The Collector assured the victims that the government would pay the hospital charges from the CM’s Relief Fund. Other injured farm workers were admitted to the government hospital in Jaggaiahpet. Penuganchiprolu police are investigating the case.
