Naidu increases assistance to SC students from `10L to 15L
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced hike in financial assistance to SC students willing to study abroad from present Rs 10 lakh to 15 lakh. Naidu also increased the financial assistance to the SC students studying in residential schools and colleges,
The Chief Minister participated in the 127th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar at Inavolu in Thullur mandal on Saturday. The Chief Minister unveiled the design of the proposed Ambedkar Smriti Vanam (memorial park) on the occasion. It will be constructed on 20 acres of land in Amaravati capital city. There will be a 125-feet toll Ambedkar Statue and a conference hall with a capacity of minimum 500 members. T
here will also be a digital library which will be quite useful to those interested in carrying out research work on the life of the Constitution designer Dr B R Ambedkar. The project is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore. The government planned to complete the project within one year.
Naidu said the state government will approach the Supreme Court regarding SC ST Atrocities Act to protect the rights of Dalits across the country. He said the TDP government would fight against Central government to amend Constitution to provide SC reservation instead of BC reservation to the converted Christians. The State government will implement Baala Sanjeevani programme to provide nutritious food to malnourished, undernourished, anemic and stunted growth children across the State, for one year from this month onwards.
Chandrababu Naidu assured food security and providing free education to the poor in the State. The diet charges of 3rd and 4rth standard students in residential schools have been increased from Rs 750 t0 Rs 1000 and for fifth to 10th standard students it has been increased to Rs 1250. For Intermediate and post-metric students, it has been increased to Rs 1400 from Rs 1050. The cosmetic charges have been increased to Rs 125 from Rs 55 for boys and to Rs 150 from Rs 75 for girls.
