Panchayat Raj system being diluted: Congress
Nellore: Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatana secretary Bajirao Khode alleged that Panchayat Raj system in the state has been diluted and Janmabhoomi Committees were ruling the roost in the villages. Bajirao Khode interacted with Congress party mandal in-charges and constituency presidents at Indira Bhavan here on Saturday. He said Rajiv Gandhi had introduced Panchayat Raj system in the country to strengthen the villages. “BJP leaders along with RSS leaders are diluting the PR system in the country. They have not been developing the villages. We would strengthen the system once Congress party comes to power,” said Bajirao.
Further, Congress leaders staged a protest in front of the ATM centre in the city raising slogans against the Central government for cash shortage. Speaking to media, DCC president P Krishnaiah said people have been facing difficulties to get cash from the ATMs. Due to demonetisation banking services were not available to common man, he said and added majority of people in rural areas are not getting cash from ATMs even in mandal headquarters. He said that people were facing problems with the measures taken by the Prime Minister. Congress leaders S Tirupataiah, RV Ramanaiah, Shaik Fayaz, Raghuram, Anuradha Reddy and others were present.
