Two Maoists surrender before Rural SP in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Two Maoists including a woman surrendered before Rural Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma at District Police Office here on Monday.

According to police, the surrendered were identified as Gemelli Satish,26 alias Satya Rao, militia commander of Galikonda Area Committee of the banned outfit and Mandapalli Eswari, member of Pedabayalu Area Committee. Satish is a native of Nerellabandha village under GK Veedhi mandal while Eswari is native of Gunjuwada village under Pedabayalu mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency. 

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Dev Sharma said that Satish and Eswari were fed up with the Maoist ideology and decided to lead a normal life and surrendered before the policemen.

Satish was involved in a few crimes including pasting the posters of the outfit, placing the land mines and few others. While Eswari was involved in exchange of fire with police personnel at Sirlimetta area under Odisha in 2017 and few other crimes. As the number of surrenders has been increasing in Visakha region, it would push the development of remote areas in Agency.
