AP tops in digital solutions: Lokesh

Visakhapatnam: IT and rural development minister Nara Lokesh described Amaravati as an intellectual capital of Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam as the IT capital of the state.

Addressing media at Global Cyber Security Summit in the city on Friday, Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country in implementing digital solutions for delivery of public services and created a global FinTech eco-system. With the massive implementation of digital services in all the sectors, the cyber security plays key role not only in government bodies but also in the individual lives, he added.

In the two-day summit, cyber security experts would share their strategies and solutions to combat the growing cyber threats in India and at global-level. Nearly 450 delegates from across the world and academicians from the country are participating in the summit.

The summit is held as part of MoU between the government and Mastercard to implement the best practices on cyber security, Lokesh said. There is a big scope and potentiality for employment opportunities for youth in IT sector, the IT minister said and added the government would hone the skills of qualified youth as per the needs of IT sector.

Stating that market prices of maize and other crops had come down thanks to good yield, the minister said the government had decided to prepare an index fixing minimum support price for each crop to help the farmers get a viable price.  

Mastercard Executive Director Ravi Arora said safety and security have always been at the forefront of Mastercard’s agenda and the summit would play a pivotal role in creating awareness about cyber security. The summit also helps in preventing digital frauds in financial and commercial institutions.
