BCs are being used as only vote banks: Krishnaiah

Vijayawada: TDP L B Nagar (Telangana) MLA and BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah said that a political party would be launched soon by uniting the people of the backward classes.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Krishnaiah said the new party would be announced after discussing with the leaders of backward classes and associations. He said that all the political parties were using the BCs as vote bank only.

Stating that political parties were not showing interest to solve the problems of backward classes, he demanded 50 per cent reservation should be given to them in nominated posts and legislative bodies.  

Presently the BCs were facing discrimination from upper castes, he said and added that even the foreigners were getting more respect than the BCs. There was no recognition for people of backward classes, he lamented. .

Krishnaiah also said that there was no need to beg upper castes for anything. He asked the people of backward classes to fight for justice without political affiliations. The Centre was also not responding to give constitutional powers to the BC Commission though the backward classes were demanding from the past several years.

He also took part in a meeting with BC Association leaders from various districts. The meet passed a resolution to fight for getting power in the constitutional bodies.
