Complaints galore on official apathy

Srikakulam: State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Chairman Karem Sivaji received complaints over officials’ negligence towards Dalits’ welfare. He toured Srikakulam district on Sunday and reviewed the situation with the officials.

He received many complaints from the people belonging to SCs and STs alleging that some persons were getting jobs with fake SC and ST certificates.

They further lamented that police were acting in a negligent manner in atrocity cases. Similarly, officials had failed in providing employment to the victims of Laxmipeta massacre in Vangara mandal. On the other hand, there is an inordinate delay in payment of compensation to SCs  and STs whose lands were submerged under Vamsadhara project. 

Responding on these complaints, Sivaji said that these are evidences on indiscrimination meted out towards SCs and STs. This discrimination will be eradicated only in change of attitude of public towards SC and STs, he pointed out.

Joint collector KVN Chakradhara Babu, Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma, Sitampeta ITDA PO L Shivasankar, additional joint collector P Rajanikantha Rao, Srikakulam RDO B Dayanidhi, SC Corporation ED KV Aditya Laxmi, DEO M Sairam, Srikakulam DSP V Bhima Rao called on the Chairman and explained issues relating to SCs and STs in their respective departments.
