Focus on quality education in Agency areas: Chief Secretary to officials

Amaravati: Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar instructed the officials to take measures to reduce the number of school dropouts. He  also directed the officials to prepare a special plan within 15 days on providing quality education in Agency areas.  

Dinesh Kumar held a review meeting with departments of Primary and Secondary Education at Secretariat here on Tuesday. He said the problem of school dropouts was high in Agency areas and stressed on the need to take certain measures to address the issue.

“The education department should coordinate with the Tribal Welfare department for achieving good results and an action plan has to be formulated within 15 days on how to offer quality education to the Tribal community students and to deal with other issues.  The government will allot funds if the education department comes with proper plans,” the Chief Secretary said.

Dinesh Kumar also said that as the government allows admissions from class 3 in Ashram schools in Agency areas, the officials should take necessary steps to persuade the tribal people for admitting their children in those schools.

Emphasising the need of providing quality education to students, the Chief Secretary said that students would achieve good results in future if they were given quality education with high standards at school level. He also said the School Education department has tofocus on teachers whose performance was not satisfying and make them to improve their skills. 

He also suggested that special classes can be conducted daily in schools for the average and below average students and teachers should strive to make the students perform well in all subjects. The chief secretary also wanted officials to strive for achieving the target of 100 % literacy in the state.

Special Chief Secretary to Education department Adityanath Das said virtual class rooms were arranged in 931 schools in the state against the target of 3,500 schools. 

Similarly, digital class rooms were  started in 2,358 schools against the target of 5,000 schools across the state. Commissioner for Primary Education Sandhya Rani said the gross enrolment ratio achieved by School Education department was 85.61 per cent against the target of 89.54 per cent. She said 94.48 % students were qualified 10thclass this year. Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Director Srinivas and others participated.
