Boost to sports in TD rule: TGV

Kurnool: Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh has said that the TD government is giving boost to sports to encourage sports persons. He made this statement after participating as a chief guest on the inaugural ceremony of SAAP football league championship competitions organised at outdoor stadium here on Saturday. The MP kick-started the month-long league matches by kicking the football. 

Addressing on the occasion, Venkatesh said that Kurnool is emerging as a sports hub as it hosted several state and national-level tournaments. Playing games, not only keeps the player fit and healthy and it also lays path for their golden future, he stated, urging people to take part in at least one sport and practice with a determined will. He said that he is encouraging sports for the last 40 years and will continue to do so in future. 

He stressed on the need for protecting the play grounds from encroachments. SAAP Chief Coach Jagannath Reddy said that the open league football matches would continue up to the end of June. Players participating from 14 constituencies have been divided into Kurnool, Nandyal, Yemmiganur and Adoni divisions. The league match winners would take part in the super league championship match that would be organised at outdoor stadium in Kurnool. 

The winners would be presented with a cash reward along with trophy and commendation certificate. Panyam team won the match by 3-1 on Kurnool team in the league match. District Football Association member C Ramanjaneyulu and other participated in the inaugural ceremony.
