Suspicion on wife leads to death of six in family

Kandukur: The suspicion of the husband on his wife and the quarrels in the family drove a family of six members, including four children, to suicide by walking opposite a speeding Sanghamitra Express near Ulavapadu railway station on Sunday night.

According to the relatives of the deceased and railway police, Pasam Sunil (27) was a native of Nellore. He was married to Rama (22), of Kandukur six years ago. 

They had four children Usha (5), twins Kalyan and Kalyani (3) and unnamed baby boy of eight-months-old. Sunil, a daily wage earner, started a small business recently after trying a number of works earlier. He used to sell mixer grinders and electric cookers on instalments in Budvel of Kadapa district and the family was shifted to there.

The relatives of the couple said that Sunil started doubting his wife and used to harass her after the last child was born. He disowned the baby boy even after the family members tried to convince him a number of times stating that his wife was innocent.

On May 9, they came to Kandukur to attend the marriage of a relative and were about to return to Badvel on Sunday. But before leaving, an argument erupted between the couple and the elders tried to pacify them. They started from home to go to Badvel;   but reached Ulavapadu railway station and informed the family members that they were committing suicide.

They stood up holding two children each and walked few metres on the railway track some distance away from Ulavapadu and went opposite Sanghamitra express at 9.15 p.m.

Their bodies were severely mutilated due to the impact of the train.  Relatives, who were searching them at the station, wept uncontrollably after seeing the mutilated bodies. 

The Kandukur DSP Prakasa Rao and RPF CI Anurag Kumar visited the spot and noted down the details of the deceased persons and started investigation.
