NTR’s favourite dishes served to partymen

Vijayawada: TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s favourite dishes became a hot topic of discussion on the second day of Mahanadu on Monday which happened to be the 95th birth anniversary of the legendary actor and former Chief Minister. There were altogether 22 varieties.

Sweet Pongal, which is known as Chakkera Pongali in Telugu was one of the special dishes served for the entire attendees at the Mahanadu. This was one of the favourite dishes of N T Rama Rao.

Another favourite dish of Rama Rao was Pala Thalikalu, a dish generally made during Sankranti festival in coastal Andhra Pradesh, attracted the foodies. Gulab Jamun, a preferred sweet recipe of NTR was also prepared.

Rama Rao’s favourite pickles including Guntur-Gongura and Bezawada-Avakaya were served to the TDP leaders and cadre in the main course of the lunch at the Mahanadu.

Aratikaya Bajji (Banana Bajji), lemon Pulihora, Fried Rice, Ulava Charu – cream, Muddapappu, Dappalam, pumpkin, brinjal curries mixed vegetable curry, ladies fingers fry and other dishes were also served to the visitors.

TDP Mahila wing State vice-president Koneru Durga Chowdary explained that they ensured that all the favourite dishes of N T Rama Rao were served on the second day of Mahanadu.

N T Rama Rao was born on May 28, 1923 in Krishna district. As he was born and brought up in Krishna district, majority of the dishes were popular dishes from Krishna district. 

Vanilla ice cream, curd, butter milk and sweet lassi were served and they were provided from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s family owned Heritage Foods. On the other hand, they did not prepare any non-veg varieties since they generally avoid them during the Mahanadu programme.
