14 more dialysis centres to come up soon

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced that the kidney patients in the government hospitals and private hospitals would be extended dialysis and pensions.

During a review meeting with the officials at his residence, the Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare an action plan and implement it on war footing to manage chronic kidney diseases (CKD) at Uddanam in Srikakulam, Kanigiri in Prakasam and A Konduru in Krishna district.

Naidu asked the officials to complete the screening of cent per cent victims and directed them to create awareness among people over the safety precautions and provide safe drinking water by setting up RO plants.

He also instructed the officials to bring awareness among people over the usage of high dosage medicines for blood pleasure as it led to kidney diseases. “The awareness camps should be conducted in all Girijan tandas,” he added.

Poonam Malakondaiah, special secretary, medical and health department, informed Naidu that 14 more dialysis centres would be established at Paderu, Rampachodavaram, Tuni, Amalapuram, Jangareddigudem, Nuzvid, Narasaraopet, Macharla, Atmakuru, Madanapalli, Kuppam, Kadiri, Rayachoti and Adoni.

Collector Lakshmikantham said that 15,000 population living in 15 girijan tandas in A Konduru mandal and dialysis facility is being provided to 21 patients. Blood samples of 821 persons were collected and three mega medical camps and 34 free medical camps were conducted, he said and added that 24-hour ambulance service was provided in tandas.

According to him, private hospitals were also conducting free medical camps. When Naidu referred to death of a person A Konduru, the officials said that he was a patient of chronic kidney disease and he did not undergo dialysis as per norms. The family of the deceased was given Rs 10,000 for immediate expenditure, they added.

The officials said the patients would be given nutritious food along with medicines. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to prepare a report on the treatment being given to patients of three areas of Srikakulam, Prakasam and Krishna districts.  CMO Girijan Sankar was also present.
