Collector focuses on delay in taking up R&B roads
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar directed the officials to construct five main R&B Roads which were completely damaged in the district on a war-footing.
He presided over a review meeting with the officials of irrigation, R&B and national highways at Collectorate on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, the Collector said that even though he asked to get the permissions to construct the five main R&B roads in the district over the last three years, those files were still pending and no funds had been sanctioned.
He questioned the R&B Superintending Engineer Nirmala on the lapses. He said the R&B roads in West Godavari were completely damaged compared to other districts.
He pointed out that the Eluru-Jangareddigudem, Chebrole-Undi, Narsapuram-Minor Port, Peravali-Bhimavaram-Narsapuram R&B roads should be constructed immediately without any delay.
The Collector, while reviewing the irrigation projects, directed the officials to speed up the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme works.
The Collector said that the water was released to Godavari canals on Friday and irrigation officials should take steps to supply water to the farmlands so as to enable the farmers to take up the seed beds plantation.
He also directed them to complete the delta modernization works.
Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy, Additional Joint Collector MH Sheriff, Panchayat Raj SE Manikyam, Irrigation SE Raghunath, Housing Project Director K Srinivas and other officials attended the meeting.
