Groundwater depleting alarmingly in WG

Eluru: West Godavari District Revenue Officer (DRO) K Satyanarayana on Sunday warned that if water conservation was not taken up now, the district would face the drought situation in future.

He addressed the Nava Nirmana Deeksha meeting on water conservation held in Collectorate on Sunday.

The DRO expressed concern that the groundwater levels in the district were depleting alarmingly. 

He pointed out that earlier the water level was recorded at 10 meters depth and now it was dropped to 20 meters. 

West Godavari was stood in first place in depletion of the groundwater levels.  He said if this situation continued, the district had to face a severe drought situation. 

He suggested that the rainwater conservation was the need of the hour.

DWAMA Assitant Project Director Dosi Reddy,  Disaster Management Organisation Managing Director Srinivas and others participated in the meeting.
