GVMC takes out green rally

Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan called upon the citizens to avoid the usage of plastic in all means to conserve the green environment. The Commissioner also explained how the plastic waste is creating big troubles and blocking the drains in the city.

The GVMC and Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board jointly organised a massive rally and awareness programmes on the occasion of the World Environmental Day on Tuesday. While flagging off the rally on the beach front at Kali Matha temple, Hari Narayanan said that due to untimely rains almost all the main drains in the city blocked due to plastic waste.

He called upon the citizens to avoid plastic use in daily needs. The industries, IT companies, educational institutions, PSUs and public took part in the rally. 

The rally was takne out at YMCA Junction. Earlier, the  Commissioner administered pledge with the participants. Joint chief environmental engineer of APPCB NV Bhaskara Rao, Chief Manager of HPCL-VR US Sarma,  addressed the gathering.
