Farmers exhorted to insure crops

Chittoor: ZP Chairperson Girvani exhorted the farmers to insure their crops to face any eventuality particularly from localised calamities. Instructions were given to all the banks to cover crop loans under the insurance scheme, she added. 

The ZP chief inaugurated the mango market complex at Thummindapalyam in Chittoor mandal on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, she stated that crop insurance scheme would a boon to the farmers of drought-hit areas. She felt that Chittoor district was reeling under drought conditions for the last several years. Girvani said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed for the welfare of farmers in the state. 

Chittoor MP Dr N Sivaprasad mentioned that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been making agriculture as a profitable through various pilot schemes. “Drinking water would be supplied to Chittoor city through Adavipalle reservoir by diverting the HNSS water with an estimated expenditure of Rs 280 crore,” he stated. Former TDP MLA Lalitha Kumari, Chandra Prakash and others also spoke.
