Weight difference in essentials will not be tolerated: Minister

Vijayawada: Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said that stern action will be taken against those over the difference in weights while delivering goods to dealer from NSL point. The minister conducted surprise checks at Gollapudi Market Yard along with Guntur and Krishna district coordination department officials on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that on receiving complaints from dealers that there was difference in weight of rice, sugar, red gram and other essentials, surprise checks were conducted. 

He said rice, sugar, red gram, palm oil and Ramzan Tohfa were distributed to 450 dealers in the city from here. On checking, it was found that there was difference of one kg less per bag of red gram, two kg less in sugar bag and the rice bag was weighing less than 50 kg which includes the bag weight. The minister said that stern action will be taken if this incidence was repeated.

He said that there are stages before the goods are delivered to dealer and added GPS tracking system along with route map was equipped to vehicles carrying the essentials to dealers. The minister said a weighbridge will be established at the market yard under the aegis of civil supplies department commissioner B Rajashekar, director Ravi Babu managing director A Surya Kumari.

He said that action will be taken against transporter over irregularities in route map and the GPS tracker. After observing a load, the minister said that there should be complete information of load entering the market yard. 

He said that E-PoS system should be made compulsory else stern action will be taken. He said the state has 10,000 dealers and each dealer should show 90 per cent public satisfaction or else action will be initiated against the dealer. The minister said that all MSL points will be computerised and linked to E-PoS and a team will be deputed to monitor weights at buffer point.
