‘Expedite construction of colonies for Polavaram displaced’

Kakinada:  East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra directed the officials concerned to expedite the construction of rehabilitation colonies for displaced people of Polavaram Project.

The Collector gave directions to this effect, while reviewing the progress from the district Collectorate on Tuesday evening through a video conference.

Speaking on this occasion, the Collector said that out of 17 colonies sanctioned for displaced, the construction agency and tender process for 15 colonies has been finalised.

The construction of these 15 colonies was entrusted to AP Housing Corporation, Panchayat Raj and Tribal Welfare department. 

These departments take up mass construction of houses, toilets, community halls and allied activity needed as part of infrastructure development for the colonies.

The bills of the rehabilitation package should be sent to district nodal officer, Joint Collector, for clearance at district treasury, the Collector clarified.

As far as rehabilitation for non-tribals was concerned, Kartikeya Mishra said that the construction of colonies would be taken up at Krishnunipalem in Gokavaram mandal and the works would be entrusted to AP Housing Department.

The Collector directed the departments to take up mass sapling plantation in R and R package areas and in vacant places in Chintur mandal. The Collector made it clear that there was no dearth of funds for this activity.  

Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna, ITDA project officers Nishant Kumar, Abhishek Kishore, Special Collector for Polavaram Project Ch Bhanu Prasad and other officials participated.
