Festive mood prevails in West Godavari district as Eruvaka begins

Eluru: Eruwaka Pournami was celebrated amid festive ambience with participation of people’s representatives and district officials at Kokkerapadu of Pedapadu mandal in West Godavari district on Thursday. Farmers along with women participated in a big way.

District Collector K Bhaskar along with Whip Ch Prabhakar, MLA B Kota Rama Rao, DCCB chairman M Venkateswara Rao, MLC Ramu Surya Rao and others boarded a bullock-cart and arrived at the venue of celebration.

Women participated and played Kolatam to bring cheer and festive mood to the participants. They prepared bulls with colours and garlands and performed puja to Kade.

The bullock-cart ride by Collector and Whip attracted the attention of the participants. The duo ploughed the land to mark beginning of Eruvaka festivities. 

The Collector also tried the machine to plant seedbeds. He stepped into the field and supplied seedbed bunches to women to start the agricultural activity.

MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Joint Collector 2 Sharif and others participated in the programme.
