Vijayawada: CPM politburo member BV Raghavulu demanded that the government establish dialysis centres and pure drinking water system in all kidney disease-affected mandals in Krishna district.

He visited Jayaram Naik Tanda, Mansingh Tanda, Chimalapadu, Gampalagudem, Narikampadu and Anumullanka villages in A Konduru mandal on Thursday, along with the party state committee member Ch Babu Rao.

He interacted with the victims of kidney ailments in the villages. On the occasion, the victims said that they are unable to spend Rs 10,000 per month for treatment. They expressed concern over the situation that they were being forced to sell lands for the treatment.

They said that nearly 1,000 kidney-affected victims are in the villages but the government had failed to establish dialysis centres. Several victims are facing hardships to visit hospitals in Vijayawada city due to illness and financial constraints.

The CPM leader also reacted on the issue and assured them that his party would bring the issue to the government’s notice. He asked the government to take immediate steps to extend help to patients. He requested the government to conduct a survey immediately to identify the patients.

He said that the government should set up dialysis centres and provide medicines free of cost. CPM State Committee member Ch Babu Rao, leaders Nageswara Reddy, Venkateswara Rao, Krishna Reddy, Ananda Rao, Ramulu, Gopi Naik, Sita Reddy, Veera Reddy, Sundara Rao,  Jana Sena leader Jaya Prakash and several leaders were present.
