Accused on run for 5 years arrested

Kurnool: Mantralayam cops arrested the most wanted accused J Mahesh Kumar alias Nani on Wednesday, who was absconding for the last five years. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty said Mahesh Kumar was an accused in 21 cases.

The accused had collected Rs 14.24 crore from the innocent people by luring them with jobs, loans and pensions. Mahesh, a resident of Yemmiganur was arrested in 2013 by the police and was sent to Adoni Sub-Jail in July same year. While he was undergoing sentence in sub-jail, four of his followers in the guise of police constables approached the jailer and asked him to handover Mahesh to them as they have to produce him in Atmakur court. They even showed fake PT warrant that used by the Police department.

Believing the PT warrant was original, the jailer handed over Mahesh to the fake police. All the five including Mahesh fled the scene. His accomplices were arrested and were sent to jail, but Mahesh has been evading arrest since then.

Th cops nabbed Mahesh in one of the villas of Raintree Park in Mangalagiri. Around 10 cases and five Non-Bailable Warrants (NBW) were pending against him, the SP stated. The SP patted Adoni DSP Ankaveedu Prasad, Mantralayam Circle Inspector D Ramu, Sub Inspector, Srinivas Naik, Assistant Sub Inspector Anand and constables for their tireless efforts to apprehend Mahesh.
