AWARENESS AGAINST ATROCITIES : SP flags off SHE teams cycle rally

Kurnool: District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty on Saturday flagged off SHE team electronic bi-cycle awareness yatra from Konda Reddy Fort. 

Addressing the gathering, the SP said the SHE team police will visit all mandals in the district and conduct awareness programmes on women harassments. 

Atrocities and harassments on women are on the rise in the district, he said and added domestic violence, sexual harassments, eve-teasing and dowry harassments cases were also being registered abnormally. 

The SHE police teams would educate the people on how to encounter the atrocities. SHE teams sub-inspector L Vijaya Lakshmi will lead the entire team comprising 20 female police personnel DSP P Venkatadri will monitor the entire process, he added. 

The SP said over 20 women rakshak teams were functioning in the district. These teams will make striking attack on prostitution houses, child marriages, women trafficking and will have an eagle eye on eve teasers at schools and colleges. 

The teams will also interact with managements of schools, colleges, apartments, people, employees and other association members to create awareness on women atrocities, good touch and bad touch, said the SP.

DSP Venkatadri said the awareness yatra would continue for a period of one-and-a-half month covering distance of 1,500 kilometres. 

Sub-inspector L Vijaya Lakshmi will lead the team comprising 15 female constables. 

SP (Administration) Shaiksha Vali, Additional SP (Armed Reserve) I Venkatesh, DSPs J Babu Prasad and Yugundar Babu, CIs Manjunath, Madhusudhana Rao and Pavan Kishore participated in the programme.
