Chandy keen to restore past glory of Congress
Guntur: AICC general secretary Oomen Chandy said that Congress party will contest alone in the state in the coming general elections. Addressing a media conference in the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Guntur city on Tuesday, he said that though some leaders shifted their loyalty to other parties, activists are with the Congress party.
He said that as soon as Rahul becomes Prime Minister he will first sign on SCS file, and give funds for the construction of state capital besides completing Polavaram project . He said that the party will set up 44000 booth committees by September end this year.
He said that he came here to regain past glory of the party and has undertaken a state tour. He said he interacted with party leaders and activists to know ground level situation. He said that they will undertake door- to- door campaign soon to strengthen the party from the grass root level soon.
He said that BJP, TDP cheated people of A.P. He said while BJP rejected SCS, TDP failed to mount pressure on Centre for SCS during the last four years. He said that both parties hurt people of A.P. Former union minister J.D.Seelam, former minister Kanumuri Bapiraju, DCC president Makkena Mallikarjuna Rao were among those present.
