T Narsapuram: A ‘Poru Yatra’ was organised seeking title deeds for Podu lands belonging to tribals, Dalits and other poor communities in the mandal on Friday.

AP Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham and AP Girijana Sangham jointly organised the yatra from Alluri Seetarama Raju Nagar. The yatra was flagged off by AP Rytu Sangham district secretary K Srinivas. The organisations also wanted housing lands for the poor families.

The yatra covered T Narsapuram, Krishnapuram, Makkinavari Gudem, Kolli Ravi Gudem, Gattugudem, Lankalapalli, Marrigudem, Sunnapuralapalli, Sandaraopet and other villages.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas urged the authorities to issue pattas to houses built in ASR Nagar.

The poor had been suffering for want of shelter and had built huts on dry land. The government should also provide electricity connection to these poor families.

He informed that many tribals, dalits and other poor had been farming in Podu lands by clearing shrubs. All of these families in many villages need pattas, he added.

CITU leader T Satyanarayana, AP Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham leader A Murali, tribal leader P China Surya Rao and others demanded that the government include tribal villages in the mandal into scheduled area.

They called upon the gathering to make Maha Dharna scheduled to be held at Collectorate on July 16 a success.
