Contractor delays construction of new DIC office building
Chittoor: In the native district of Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy, office of the District Industries Centre (DIC) is still running in a private building. Recently, office was shifted to a rented building as the existing building in the industrial estate here is in dilapidated condition.
Five years ago, the then state government had sanctioned Rs 3 crore for new building. After taking charge as Industries Minister, Amaranatha Reddy had laid foundation stone for the construction of the new DIC building in the premises of the existing building six months ago. However, administrative sanction was accorded to take up construction activity six months ago.
It is learnt that construction of the new DIC building did not start till now. Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, DIC General Manager (GM) Anil Kumar Reddy has stated that they have been relentlessly pursuing with the contractor to construct the proposed new DIC building.
“We have worked in the old DIC building for several years even though it was not suitable for office,” he stated and exuded confidence that the new DIC building will be ready within one year.
Amaranatha Reddy had also instructed the contractor to complete the construction of the new building as per schedule, he added. Due to delay in the construction of the proposed new building, the GM said that he has shifted the DIC to a private building.
