300 Haj pilgrims to leave for Jeddah on August 11

Vijayawada: The first batch of 300 Haj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh would leave for Jeddah from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on August 11, according to Momen Ahmad Hussain, chairman of the AP State Haj Committee.

The AP State Haj Committee met at its committee office here on Friday with Momen Ahmad Hussain in the chair. Hussain said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would flag off the buses carrying the Haj pilgrims at Kshetraiah Kalakshetram on August 9.

In total, 2,371 pilgrims from 13 districts would embark on Haj pilgrimage from the state. They include 39 from East Godavari, 396 from Guntur, 258 from Kadapa, 198 from Krishna, 465 from Kurnool, 139 from Nellore, 75 from Prakasam, 3 from Srikakulam, 107 from Visakhapatnam, 21 from Vizianagaram, 37 from West Godavari would travel through Hyderabad airport. About 350 pilgrims from Anantapur and 283 from Chittoor would leave for Haj through Bengaluru airport on August 14.
