Call to use jute bags instead plastic

Nellore: City Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz appealed to the people to increase usage of jute bags for avoiding plastic. Abdul Aziz participated in an awareness programme on the use of eco-friendly jute bags organised by the Niha Jute industries at Old Madras Bus stand centre in the city here on Saturday. 
Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Aziz said that the Nellore Municipal Corporation has been creating awareness on use of jute bags in the city. He requested the city people to decrease use of plastic to make the city plastic free. The Mayor explained that the people have voluntarily ban the polythene bags to improve environs in the city. 

He also urged the district administration, NGOs, Private organizations to come forward to create awareness among the public and traders on ill-effects due to use of plastic bags and search for alternative eco-friendly methods. Aziz said that they would take up the issue of plastic menace in the city as a member of the Pollution Control Board. He distributed jute bags to the people in the market.
