AP Govt committed to BC welfare: KEK
Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Revenue KE Krishnamurthy said that the state government is committed for the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs) and downtrodden sections of the society. Participating as a chief guest at Grama Darshini programme organised at Narlapuram village in Veldurthy mandal on Friday, Murthy inaugurated the cement concrete road which was laid at a cost of Rs 1.15 crore from Narlapuram to Venkatapuram village.
Murthy, accompanied by the District Collector S Satyanarayana and MLC KE Prabhakar, interacted with the villagers, asked about the schemes being extended by the state government to them and also addressed the gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishnamurthy said despite revenue deficit of Rs 16,000 crore after bifurcation, Chief Minister, with a strong will, has developed the state on all fronts. Even facing financial problems, the government is providing uninterrupted power supply, coverage of Chandranna Bima, stipend to unemployed youth, NTR Vidyonnathi, Chandranna Tohfa, Sankranti and Christmas gifts, waiving of farmer and DWCRA loans, pensions, Adarana Scheme-2 and many more schemes are being extended to the people.
Even cement concrete roads, under Chandranna Bata, were laid at Veldurthy mandal at a cost of Rs 8.7 crore, BT roads at Rs 6.35 crore using the NABARD funds, Rs 40 lakh worth roads under NREGS at Peremula village, Rs 1.78 crore worth roads at Krishnapuram and five overhead tanks worth Rs 1.4 crore were also constructed, said the Deputy Chief Minister.
The Collector said women, who were deserted by husbands and single women are also covered under the pension scheme. He also advised the farmers to become members under Chandranna Bima by paying Rs 15. The members covered under the scheme would get Rs 5 lakh in case of deaths and Rs 2.5 lakh to deformity, he stated.
On this occasion, Krishnamurthy and Satyanarayana along with other participants handed over Rs 1.09 crore worth bank linkage cheque to 24 Self-Help Group (SHG) members. Prior to the programme, Murthy visited the stall expo organised by various SHGs at the premises. KDCC Bank Chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy, RDO Hussain Saheb, Sarpanch Lakshmi Devamma and others were present.
