Tough time for TDP sitting MLAs

Update: 2018-07-30 05:30 IST

Vizianagaram: Sitting TDP MLAs, who are enjoying power so far, may face tough time as the high command is reportedly searching for alternative candidates in their places in the ensuing assembly elections.

TDP won six assembly seats out of nine in the district in the past 2014 assembly polls. S Kota, (K Lalitha Kumari), Cheepurupalli, (K Mrinalini), Vizianagaram, (M Geetha) Gajapathinagaram (KA Naidu), Nellimarla (PN Swamy) and Parvathipuram (B Chiranjeevulu).

But the high command is reportedly searching for new candidates for Gajapathi Nagaram, Parvthipuram, Cheepurupalli and Vizianagaram. Actually, Mrinalini hails from Srikakulam but surprisingly bagged the ticket in the district and defeated senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana and became minister too but later, she was terminated from the cabinet.

Now the leaders of Cheepurupalli constituency were disappointed with her performance and they alleged that she is maintaining distance with local leaders. Now, there is a threat for her from the local cadre unless she shifts her constituency. So, the party is looking for a new candidate to field from here.

According to party sources, B Chiranjeevulu and K Appala Naidu have lost their reputation as they are reportedly implementing their personal agenda which is against the public interest. The party high command also received many complaints against the duo.

All these consequences have forced the bigwigs of the party to field new candidates at Parvathipuram and Gajapathinagaram. Even the MLA Geetha is also lost her credibility in the town. Apart from this, the opposition YSRCP is gathering the support from public against the TDP leaders.

So, the ruling TDP is working hard to retain the power by winning the next elections and considering every issue and taking steps to field strong candidates in all the four constituencies. It's getting confidential reports from intelligence department and getting feedback and opinions of the local leaders before finalising the candidates.

On the other hand, sitting MLAs are using the opportunity to retain their seats to contest in next elections. Some of these MLAs are in touch with Ganta Srinivasa Rao and seeking his support in this regard.
