Confined to hostel stay, girl student ends life
Kadapa: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide reportedly upset with her parents’ refusal to allow her come out of hostel, at Proddutur on Monday. The deceased has been identified as A Nandana, daughter of Ramatheerdhamma, Nageswara Rao of Upparapalli village under Chennuru mandal.
According to sources, Nandana passed SSC this year and was admitted to EEE course in a polytechnic in Proddutur against her wish to study Intermediate along with her schoolmates. .
Nandana, who was staying at a private hostel in Proddutur, went to her village in the first week of July. According to police, she reportedly expressed her reluctance to stay in hostel and wanted to stay outside, to which her parents did not agree.
Two days ago, Nandana again went to her home and pleaded with her parents to allow her leave the hostel, but they refused. She returned to the hostel in a depressed mood around 9 am on Monday and hanged herself with her chunni to a nail fixed to the wall in the hostel room in the absence of her roommates. On not finding her in the classroom, her co-students suspected something wrong and rushed to the hostel
to find Nandana hanging. Proddutur police registered a case and are investigating.
