Remunerative prices for agri produce demanded

Anantapur: A host of people's organisations representing various sections of society met under the initiation of Rayalaseema Abhivrudhi Vedika (RAV) to take stock of the farmers struggles in states including Punjab, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with a view to discuss the steps to be taken by the present governments to prevent such nasty situations in our state. The Vedika announced its solidarity to the farmers in the state and particularly in Rayalaseema districts.

The RAV convenor and former MLC Dr M Geyanand observed that the outcome of the deliberations at the meeting on the farmers issues was that the government should announce remunerative prices for their produce. The farmers produce should not be subjected to market vagaries. 

The Vedika members demanded that the farmers should be respected in the government offices and they should not be made to run from pillar to post for getting their due from the government.

The Rs 1,000 crores loan waiver dues should be immediately released to the district farmers. The government should take such steps so as to prevent the farmers from taking to streets as it is happening in Punjab, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. 

The participants comprising of lawyers, medical fraternity, educated persons, NGOs, social workers, people's organisations, political parties and farmers’ organisations passed a resolution expressing their solidarity with the farmers.

They also demanded that AP government too should introduce Telangana type of dole to the farmers wherein each farmer is given an investment of Rs 4,000 per acre per each season to meet cultivation expenditure.
