Akshaya Patra gets 2 vehicles for mid-day meal supply

Kakinada: Collector Karthikeya Misra has said the government is very much particular to implement mid-day meals scheme for the students successfully.

Handing over two vehicles to Akshya Patra Foundation at Collectorate here on Saturday, he said that Kakinada Sea Ports Limited (KSPL) donated the vehicles by spending Rs 24 lakh for mid-day meals scheme.

Akshaya Patra Foundation uses the vehicles to transport food to school and college students quickly. At a time each vehicle carries food for 2,500 students, he informed. 

Akshaya Patra Foundation is supplying food to 13,000 students studying in 90 government schools and three junior colleges in the district.

He appealed to other corporate companies to come forward to make success the mid-day meals scheme in the district. The Collector asked Akshaya Patra Foundation management to maintain quality in the food supplies to the students.

Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary, Mandapeta MLA Vegulla Jogeswara Rao, Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna, KSPL chief operations officer M Muralidhar, general manager Captain Jacob, Akshaya Patra Foundation representatives Vaikunta Das, district forest officer Nandana Salaria, Sub-collector's CM Saikanth Varma, Dr Vinod Kumar, revenue divisional offices KL Raghubabu, Rajasekhar and others were present.
