Inter-state chain snatchers held

Srikakulam: Srikakulam district police nabbed two chain snatchers and recovered 40 tolas of gold ornaments from them. Addressing the media here on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma said that the accused are identified as Sujith Kumar Padi and Balakrishna Sahu of Berhampur city in Odisha. 

They formed a gang and engaged motor bikes temporarily. They target women, who are walking alone, and snatch the ornaments. Total 17 cases were registered against the accused in three years under 10 police stations across Srikakulam district. In Odisha also 25 cases were registered against the two accused in nine police stations, the Superintendent of Police elaborated.

Inter-state border area police officers meeting was held at Itchapuram with the initiation of Srikakulam Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma which yielded good results in nabbing the inter-state chain snatchers. 

In all, 17 cases were cleared with the coordination of both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh border area police officers. The Superintendent of Police lauded efforts of Itchapuram CI K Bhavani Prasada Rao, SI B Mangaraju and four constables in nabbing the two accused and recovery of gold ornaments. The Superintendent of Police presented cash rewards for police officers.
