Second edition of Model United Nations concludes
Visakhapatnam: More than 80 students from 10 schools in the city participated in the second edition of Model United Nations (MUN) hosted by Navy Children School (NCS) at Nausena Baugh campus here on Saturday and Sunday.
The students representing various countries of the world, debated about the contemporary themes. The event was inaugurated by Commodore Sushant Dam, Director Maritime Warfare Centre.
Two model councils of the United Nations namely 'United Nations Security Council’ (UNSC) with the theme 'Situation in Syria' and the 'United Nations Human Rights Council’ (UNHRC) with the theme 'Assessing the situation of fatal punishment across the Globe' were conducted.
The Chairperson for the UNSC and UNHRC were Fazil Razak and Srinivasan from Chennai respectively. There was also a separate committee of students for media coverage. In the closing ceremony held on Sunday at the Navy Children School Auditorium where the Director NCS gave away the prizes to winners and participants.
The best delegate award for both the councils were won by Chitrangada Singh for UNSC and Manya Karri for UNHRC, both from NCS Visakhapatnam. The MUN concluded with the release of MUN journal and screening of MUN movie by the media team.
