Let us rededicate ourselves to achieve growth: MLA NVSN Varma
Pithapuram: Local MLA NVSN Varma has said, “Let us rededicate ourselves to achieve development, so that the fruits of independence, trickles down to all sections of society.”
Hoisting the national flag at various government offices and schools on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day celebrated on Wednesday, he paid glowing tributes to freedom fighters.
He lauded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s pro-poor programmes and made a special reference of the Purushottamapatnam Lift-Irrigation Scheme benefiting the farmers. As a result of the scheme, ayacut under the scheme increased.
He garlanded statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr BR Ambedkar on the premises of the municipal office here and paid floral tributes to the eminent leaders.
Taking part in RRBHR Government Junior College celebrations, he extolled Chandrababu stating that schemes coined by him are in tune with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. New classrooms have been built in the junior college spending Rs 1.26 crore.
Rs 3.5 crore has been sanctioned to rebuild the college building, which is in a dilapidated condition.
He said Minister Lokesh would lay the foundation stone for the Rs 5-crore polytechnic college.
He was instrumental in upgrading the BM Rao High School to that of a junior college.
College principal Saibaba, municipal chairman Karanam Chinna Rao, municipal commissioner B Nageswara Rao and others take part in the celebrations.
