Burglar who impersonated as police officer held
Visakhapatnam: The city police arrested 39-year-old M Srujan Kumar, who impersonated as a police officer and committed various offences in Visakhapatnam. The accused also committed several crimes in Telangana State and shifted to Visakhapatnam and residing with his third wife. The crime wing police arrested him.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, DCP (crime) AR Damodhar said that the accused was having criminal record in both Telugu states. Srujan Kumar alias Charan, a native of Ganapur village in Warangal district of Telangana state, was involved in chain, bag snatchings and theft cases at various police station limits in Hyderabad, the DCP said.
After involving in chain snatchings in Hyderabad, Charan is absconding from Hyderabad and shifted to Visakhapatnam and staying with his third wife at Madhurawada. In the recent times, Charan committed thefts at PM Palem, Arilova and III Town Police Station limits in the city. The crime wing team led by ACP Y Govind Rao arrested the accused at Potina Mallayapalem.
During the investigation, police found that the accused impersonated as a police officer. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to committing crime. Police recovered 3.5 grams of gold ornaments, Rs 8.20 lakhs cash, several valuable items and two vehicles from the accused. Further investigation is on.
