Water from Pulichintala project to be released

  • District administration directs people residing in Dachepalli,Tulluru, Tadepalli to be alert 
  • Twenty families in Vellampalli to be shifted to safer places 

Guntur: The district administration has taken steps to shift the people residing in low-lying areas in Chityalatanda, Gopalapuram and Ketavaramtanda in Gurajala revenue division to the safer places and to the relief camps to be set up by the district administration in the backdrop of heavy inflows into Pulichintala project. 

The capacity of the Pulichintala project is 45.77 tmc feet level water, as soon as water will reach full capacity, the irrigation department will release water from the Pulichintala project.

The district administration decided to release water from the project into the Krishna river as a precautionary measure. 

If the water is released, the families residing in the Chityalantanda, Goaplapuram and Ketavaramtanda villages are likely to face flood threat. 
 
The district administration directed the residents of Dachepalli, Amaravati, Tulluru and Tadepalli to be alert. 

The In-charge Collector IMD Imtiaz Ahmed directed the officials to shift the people residing in the village to the relief camps with the cooperation of revenue, irrigation and police. 

He urged the people cooperate with the district administration. Twenty families in Vellmapalli village would be shifted to safer places.

Speaking to The Hans India, In-charge Collector IMD Imtiaz said:  Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala projects are getting heavy inflows.  

As soon as water will reach full capacity in the Pulichintala project, we will release water into the Krishna river. 

With the cooperation of revenue, irrigation and police, we will shift the families to the safer places”.
