Isolated rain forecast for AP State

Hyderabad: A low pressure area was formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood on Wednesday at 5.30 am under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over north Bay and adjoining areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal, according to the Met department bulletin. 

It is likely to bring rain in the State. The bulletin said the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level. The system is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours. The upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay off the south Odisha¬ north Andhra Pradesh coasts has merged with the cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure area.  

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few/isolated places in the State from September 6 to 9. No large change during the period September 10-12 is the weather outlook.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon continued to be weak in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions. There was isolated rain in Krishna, Guntur, Srikakulam, West & East Godavari districs.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Avanigadda (Krishna) 5, Repalle (Guntur), Palasa (Srikakulam), Koyyalagudem (West Godavari) 3 each, Kakinada (East Godavari) and Pathapatnam (Srikakulam) 2 each.

There was 1 cm rain each in Visakhapatnam Airport, Tekkali (Srikakulam), Tadepalligudem (West Godavari), Vizianagaram, Tanuku (West Godavari), Visakhapatnam and Dowleshwaram (East Godavari).
