Land pooling with farmers consent: Joint Collector P Basanth Kumar
Visakhapatnam: Joint Collector G Srujana and VMRDA Commissioner P Basanth Kumar held discussions on the land pooling for the urban housing project with the farmers of Kommadi and Paradesipalem on Thursday.
Addressing the farmers, the Joint Collector said that the land would be acquired as per the government rules and regulations and with the consent of the farmers. The government will not acquire the lands forcibly and it will pay good compensation, the Joint Collector said.
Metro Commissioner Basanth Kumar said that the VMRDA has decided to acquire 106 acres of land for the urban housing project in Kommadi and Paradesipalem. He said that after development of the land, the farmers would get good returns. Before acquiring the lands, the revenue officials will conduct a survey, he added.
Revenue divisional officer Tej Bharat, VMRDA estate officer Murali, chief urban planner Bhavani Shankar and other officials were present. After the discussions, the VMRDA announced that as many as 20 farmers agreed to give their lands for the urban housing project.
