Visakhapatnam: Chief of YSR Congress Party and Opposition Leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy alerted his party to gear up to face early elections in Andhra Pradesh too.  Jagan informed the party leaders that he had confidential information that the general elections could be held in January and directed the leaders to kick-start party activities from polling booth level immediately.

A meeting of YSRCP coordinators belonging to all the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha segments, MLAs, MPs, former ministers, former legislators and other influential leaders was held in the city on Tuesday. While addressing the party activists, Jagan alerted them to take up more activities including door-to-door campaign and strengthen the party booth level cadre.

The elections would be held before the scheduled time and cadre should gear up and be ready to win the race, he added. He told the party leaders to take up an extensive campaign on party’s popular programme ‘Navaratnalu’. The polling booth level programmes should be launched across the State from September 17. The party leaders should meet every family within the booth-level jurisdiction and should identify their issues.

The leaders should also check the voter lists and take up corrective measures if any mistakes are found. The party would appoint one booth committee member for every 40 families and the member should take up door-to-door campaign to explain about the importance of the ‘Navaratnalu’ programme, Jagan said.
