West Godavari youth climbs Mount Kilimanjaro

Eluru: K Lakshman, a mountaineer from Nidadavole in West Godavari district successfully conquered Mount Kilimanjaro and brought laurels to the district. He is 26-year-old.

Lakshman is among three mountaineers selected from the district by youth services department of the state in May. 

At state-level, he achieved the success by climbing the mount covering 5,356 metres in Tanzania of Africa continent.

While his father passed away, his mother supported his education and sporting interest while working as tailor. He studied Class X in St Ambrose High School in Nidadavole. 

He completed his Intermediate in Govt Junior College, Nidadavole followed by graduation from SVKT Degree College in Nidadavole.

He got training from Jawahar Mountaineering Institute in Jammu and Kashmir and learned techniques to cope with harsh weather conditions.

His teachers, friends apart from district officials congratulated him for successfully climbing the mountain.
