Govt urged to re-open Chagallu sugar factory
Chagallu: AP Sugarcane Farmers’ Association vice-president Undavalli Krishna Rao demanded that the state government take steps to reopen the Chagallu sugar factory.
He participated in regional meeting of AP Rytu Sangham here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Rao said that the sugar factory was the lifeline for sugarcane farmers, farm labour, workers and people in surrounding areas.
With the closure of the factory, they lost employment. He asked the government to intervene in the issue and persuade the management to re-open the factory.
The sangham upland secretary, K Srinivas, demanded that the government implement without delay fourth and fifth phases of loan waiver for farmers.
He wanted the government to extend compensation for the maize farmers who were not getting remunerative price for their produce.
The sangham leader asked the government to announce support price for all crops and purchase the produce from the farmers.
