Police intesify searches for MLA’s killers in Bhimavaram
Bhimavaram: In the wake of murder of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA S Soma by Maoists in Visakhapatnam district recently, the police stepped up searches suspecting that Swaroopa who led the attack hailed from the town.
They conducted cordon search at Indira Colony here on Wednesday. The search was conducted by Narsapur DSP T Prabhakar Babu since early hours.
Babu requested residents of the town to be cautious about suspected persons. He advised people to inform the town police if they noticed anybody whose moves were suspicious.
He also asked people not to rent their premises to any newcomers without verifying their identity.
The district police were alert ever since release of a photograph of suspected Maoist woman who carried out the attack on MLA.
The SP of Visakhapatnam Rahul Dev Sarma, had released the photo of the woman whose whereabouts were linked to Bhimavaram town.
The local police have been conducting probe to track the woman who might have studied in educational institutions here before joining the extremists.
They also conducted searches in RTC Bhimavaram depot as the woman Naxalite reportedly worked as a conductor before shifting to Andhra Orissa Border area.
It seems the police were not convinced with the contention that Swaroopa belongs to Bhimavaram in West Godavari. They are of the view that she might be hailing from other place by the same name.
Meanwhile, the police during the cordon search took into custody three habitual offenders and six suspects.
They recovered 54 bikes and three autos as there was no documentary proof produced during questioning.
In the cordon search, 25 CIs and SIs apart from 150 constables participated.
