Runs, walks mark World Tourism Day celebrations

Tirupati: A 2K Run was organised here on Thursday by the Tourism Department on the occasion of the World Tourism Day. The run started at Ramanuja Circle and concluded at Shilparamam.

Several students and people from various walks of life have participated in the run which was flagged off by the Executive Director of AP Tourism Department, Tirupati Vijayaprakash and was attended by District Tourism Officer DV Chandramouli Reddy and Divisional Manager of AP Tourism Development Corporation RV Suresh Kumar Reddy. 

Speaking on the occasion, Jayaprakash has said that the objective of celebrating World Tourism Day every year was to promote tourism worldwide which will spread the cultures and traditions of various regions across the length and breadth of the globe. Cultural programmes were held in the evening at Shilparamam where dance, mimicry and skits were performed. 

World Tourism Day celebrations were also held at Indian Culinary Institute in Tirupati and various competitions were conducted on this year’s theme ‘Digital Transformation.’ Essay writing, drawing, creative cookery, culinary quiz and culinary walk were held.

These were aimed at bringing more awareness and to motivate the students, said the Academic In-charge of the Institute M Thirulokachander. On this occasion, the student chefs have made attractive vegetable carvings which received huge applause. They also held a ‘Chefs walk’ in the evening.
