Solar plant commissioned

Kadapa: The solar electric power plant with a capacity of 950 kW commissioned on the premises of the Yogi Vemana University (YVU) campus here on Thursday, by Vice-Chancellor Prof A Ramachandra Reddy.

The solar power plant was established under an agreement with New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), Vijayawada. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the commissioning of the solar power plant is a major step towards making the varsity a green campus as envisioned by Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The varsity will save Rs 1.89 lakh per month on power bills. YVU campus has tremendous scope of generating solar energy as it receives solar radiation almost throughout the year amounting to 3,000-hrs of sunshine, he explained.
