Gutka, khaini worth 4 lakh seized

Srikakulam: The officials of vigilance and enforcement seized gutka, khaini and pan masala all worth Rs 4.02 lakhs at Kotha Road Junction under Amudalavalasa Police Station limits here on Friday. 

The vigilance teams led by regional vigilance and enforcement officer T Harikrishna and DSP K Bhargav Rao Naidu seized 19 bags of banned goods, gutka, khaini and pan masala from a mini-lorry. 

They detained three merchants and they were identified as G Lokesh, P Chakradharudu and A Suryanarayana of Srikakulam city. They confessed to the crime before the vigilance and Amudalavalasa police. 

As per information given by the accused, they purchased gutka, khaini and pan masala at Berhampur in Odisha state and shifting it to Anakapalle.  On a tip-off, the vigilance officials seized and registered a case against the three accused at Amudalavalasa Police Station. Vigilance CI G Chandra and SI K Kiran Kumar participated.
