Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand assures farmers to supply water in 2 days

Ongole: Prakasam District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand assured the farmers who met him on Sunday, to supply irrigation water in two days and save the crops from withering.

About 200 farmers from Chimakurthi and Naguluppalapadu mandals reached the Collector camp office in Ongole on Sunday, and their representatives met the Collector along with the MLC Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy and former SN Padu MLA BN Vijaykumar. 

The Chimakurthi mandal farmers explained to the Collector that they had prepared paddy seed for 4,000 acres and already sown in 2,000 acres. 

But they are withering now due to the non availability of water, they complained.

They requested the Collector to release water to Ongole Branch Canal with 1,800 cusec flow to save the crops. 

The Naguluppalapadu farmers explained that 3,000 acres of chilli crop was in withering stage and requested the Collector to release water from Gundlakamma reservoir to the left canal and save them. 

The Collector discussed the situation with the irrigation SE Ravikumar and said that necessary steps will be taken in two days to save the crops from withering.

The farmers representatives AV Chowdary, Chandrasekhara Rao, Venganna, Radhakrishan Murthy, Ramanaiah, Gundavarapu Srinivasa Rao and others also met the Collector.
