Kadapa: Political scenario in Proddaturu municipality has taken an interesting twist after 22 TDP councilors including vice-chairman YS Jabi Vullah and two co-option members (TDP) tendered resignations on Monday to the Proddaturu Municipal Commissioner K Chandra Mouleswara Reddy.

They alleged that party Proddaturu constituency in-charge Nandyala Varadarajula Reddy is responsible for getting bad name to the ruling party by intervening in civic body issues.

Generally, opposition party leaders are supposed to take such steps to pull down the ruling council, but, interestingly, it was the ruling party councilors who have quit in protest against their own party leader. They also held huge demonstrations in Proddaturu town.

According to Proddaturu municipal vice-chairman YS Jabi Vullah, Varadarajula Reddy had been pressuring the municipal authorities for constructing a water tank in the Proddaturu municipal park against the wishes of both TDP and YSR Congress parties which had openly opposed such a proposal in the interests of public.

Jabi Vullah also took exception that Reddy was responsible for demolition of a bus shelter located at old bus stand center in the name of constructing Anna canteen, without seeking permission from municipal authorities. The proposal was not also approved by the civic body meet. It may be recalled that TDP has sway over Proddaturu municipality as it has 22 councillors 2 co-option members, while YSR Congress has 22 councillors.

There are two groups in the ruling party leaders, one led by Marketing Minister C Adi Narayana Reddy extending support to former minister Varadarajula Reddy, and the other is led by Rajya Sabha Member CM Ramesh who is backing former Proddaturu MLA J Linga Reddy in the civic body affairs.
