Nellore: Rajya Sabha MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy met Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Yudhvir Singh Malik in New Delhi on Wednesday and discussed a need for building a flyover bridge in Nellore.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that there was a proposal to build a flyover on NH-5, Kolkata-Chennai highway, in Nellore city. Due to negligence of NHAI, the bridge has not been built, causing several accidents and loss of lives. He said that several devotees visit Golagamudi village which is famous for Venkateswara temple and there is an engineering college on the other side of the road.

As several people, including students, cross the road, there have been many instances of accidents at the cross roads, the MP said. Similarly, there is a need for another flyover bridge at Chintareddy Palem Junction as residents of Mittapalem, Aviletipadu, Allipuram, Dakshina Rajupalem and Chinna Cherukuru villages have to cross the highway to come to Nellore, he said.

In this regard, the MP urged the Union Minster and NHAI Chairman to construct the bridges at the earliest. He said that the Union Minister has responded positively to his request.
